BSA Images Of The Week: 11.13.22

Welcome to BSA Images of the Week!

One of the hardest weeks of our lives. But we’re still here to give you another posting of new shots of street art and graffiti on the streets. Thank you for your support, and thank God for the creative spirit that keeps us inspired, our cities alive, informed, and in-touch with the common person.

The so-called ‘Red Wave’ (red tsunami, red hurricane, etc.) didn’t materialize in the mid-term elections Tuesday despite the drumbeat on corporate media. On the other hand, the Democratic party can’t be too proud of their “squeaker” win – or their incremental moves to the corporate right for four decades. Nothing to sing and dance about.

Meanwhile, a large swath of previously middle-class people continues to slip into poverty every day – working 2, 3 jobs at a time and still not able to make ends meet. It is more obvious than ever in this modern age, there is no party run by the people.

Here’s our weekly interview with the street, this week featuring: Praxis, SRKSHNK, Lexi Bella, Homesick, Chupa, Ivanorama, Kimyon333, Sinclair the Vandal, Cramcept, SORE, Qzar, Lasak, Uwont, Aidz, Delae, SGVT, and NYC Kush Co. and Sean9Lugo.

The Harvest Moon flooded New York skies three nights this week as we welcomed the fall equinox and we all stared up at the sky and the Koreans ate mooncakes and the tensions on the street seemed to tighten and then release. There is a fresh new hell of a Covid vaccine fight threatening staffing at hospitals, but luckily this week food delivery workers successfully fought for and won better conditions from a parasitic app/restaurant system that extracted their labor and gave precious little back in return. Schools opened and we’ve ducked a few good storms; the Italian Catholics are celebrating the Feast of San Gennaro and the Hasidic Jews are celebrating in those small sukkah buildings all around some neighborhoods in Brooklyn.

A pause. It’s unusual to feel this sense in this city – but it’s there – on a sunny day where the sky is clear of clouds and a flock of geese still waddles and honks in the tall weeds and garbage by the Wallabout Channel. Is it a pause of satisfaction at the end of a summer full of fun, or perhaps a calm resignation before a storm as businesses are staying closed or operating at reduced staff. And while the Federal Reserve and ECB and World Bank insist there is just a smidgen of temporary, transitory inflation, tell us why a pound of butter is $6.00 at the local deli, the average price of a used car is $25K, and shipping container prices have soared to $20K?

There is a steady number of new street art pieces going up on doorways, power boxes, and concrete walls, but they are competing all of the triumphal purple and blue and pink Morning Glories flooding fences and walls and garden gates in neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn – a most generous overflow that summer gives as a parting gift.

Here’s our weekly interview with the street, this week featuring Cssh4, Cheak, Clown Soldier, Diva Dogla, Drecks, ERRE, Fat Jak, Font 147, Goblin, Goog, JerkFace, Little Ricky, Mort Art, Praxis, Rambo, Seibot, Sinclair the Vandal, and Smetsky.

Welcome to BSA Images of the Week.

Can you feel the power of July’s full Buck Moon that arrived this weekend? Not to be confused with the full buck-naked moon; those are the guys climbing the fence to skinny dip in McCarren Pool.

Looks like the new George Floyd statue in Flatbush, Brooklyn got defaced by racists but will be restored and move to Union Square in Manhattan. The vandals must have been mad about all the confederate statues that have been coming down around the country.

You’ll be thrilled to learn that two self-driving cars were tested in New York this week, and no skateboarders or seniors were mowed down. The footage looks pretty tame, to tell the truth. Let’s try the test on any average drunken Saturday night and see how the rabble-rousers fare. Truthfully, a driverless car is exactly the way it feels taking a yellow cab sometimes.

Here’s our weekly interview with the street, this week featuring Adam Fu, Adrian Wilson, Allison Dayka, Baston, Captain Eyeliner, City Kitty, Comik, David Puck, SEK@DX, Denis Ouch, Duel Heck, Flore, Foxito, La Plaga Invade, Lorenzo Masnah, Lunge Box, Rex Bantron, S. Cifu, Sinclair The Vandal, Sticky Monger, Sule Cant Cook, and Westgard.
