Happy GLBT Pride Weekend New York

Celebrating the first anniversary of legalized marriage equality in the State of New York AND the 6 months since the repeal of the US military’s ban on GLBT officers serving openly, this weekends’ parties, celebrations will be punctuated by a march attended by 1.7 million people in the street. Keith Haring would have been proud.

Moody at Pandemic (BKLYN)

Winner of Best Title for a Show Award, which we have right here on an engraved brass panel glued to a handsome wood block! Moody has been a New York graffiti artist under another name for many years, and as a street artist as Moody for more than a decade. Saturday Pandemic mounts “America Runs on Graff”, and you’ll get to see what his newest gig is.

Go see for yourself why this artist has quickly become one of the most followed and admired Street Artists. His portraits hold their own, revealing themselves as he selectively destroys parts of the wall he’s on.

BLADE Cuts Through Zurich

The ArTicks Gallery in Zürich, Switzerland brings New York City Graffiti royalty BLADE for his solo exhibition aptly tiled “Blade: The KIng of Graffiti” opening on Saturday. The artist will be present so bring your black book you might get lucky to score a tag.

Born in Portugal in 1987, VHILS travels all over the globe to create his monumental works. He was singled out in 2008 by Banksy who invited him to the Cans Festival in London. The art critic Tristan Manco shared at the time « here he is one of the finest examples of world street art from these past few years.” In 2010, he took part to the Sao Paulo Biennial as well as the Fame Festival in Italy and made a huge portrait in collaboration with JR in the center of Los Angeles.

The exhibition Shadows & Reflections emphasizes the variety of stencil’s artistic forms. First, by the variety of supports ranging from walls to installations including canvas and then by the diversity of techniques used by the artists.
Shadows and reflections, presents works on canvas, totally new installations, video, etc. The exhibition confronts the variety of expression of the stencil and proves the richness of this major movement of Street-Art which offers the artists infinite possibilities of creation…
L’exposition Shadows & Reflections montre la diversité des formes artistiques que prend le pochoir. D’abord, par la variété des supports, du mur à l’installation en passant par la toile. Surtout par les différentes techniques utilisées par les artistes.
Shadows and reflections, présente des œuvres sur toile, des installations inédites, de la vidéo, etc. L’exposition confronte les différents modes d’expression du pochoir et prouve la richesse de ce mouvement majeur du Street-Art qui offre d’infinies possibilités de création aux artistes.
