P.P.O.W Gallery Presents: Daze "Daily Commute" (Manhattan, NYC)

Read from the press release below:

The exhibition is opening on February 15 at P.P.O.W Gallery. The exhibition, Daily Commute, will be Daze’s first with the gallery. The exhibition will feature paintings, drawings, and pastels that reflect Daze’s exploration of and reflection on New York City, a subject that has always permeated his work.

The works on view in Daily Commute depict the iconography and experiences that comprise a life in New York City – the interiors of subway trains and platforms, people shopping in Jackson heights or exiting the subway at Eastern parkway, people walking through Times Square at night. The paintings and drawings on view are layered works that bring together the ethos of the graffiti movement with more formal painterly techniques, paying homage to artists that have been influential to Daze, including Willem DeKooning, Franz Kline, and Joan Mitchell.
