Lucas Lucas Gallery Presents: Ramiro Davaros-Comas "Hell in a Bucket" (Brooklyn, NY)

Hell in a Bucket
A solo show by Ramiro Davaro-Comas
March 2nd – April 1st

Opening Reception:
Friday, March 2nd
6pm – 9pm

Artist, illustrator and activist Ramiro Davaro-Comas documented the twists and turns, ups and downs, and the backs and forths of the disastrous roller coaster that was the 2016 American presidential election.

Through his unique and fascinating style of art, Davaro-Comas captures the intensity of this unfathomable era in American history within one 40-page book of original artwork, displayed to the public for the first time as a single piece.

Channeling a fun and comedic illustrative style that mixes Ralph Steadman and Gary Larsen, Hell in a Bucket is an insight into the insanity of the 2016 campaign season. With caricatures of the major players and a tongue-in-cheek analysis of their failings, each page of this book is a bold and forthcoming statement on the events as they transpired.

All 40 original illustrations will be available for public viewing, and will be shown and sold as a single work of art. The body of work is the first of its kind in social examination to creep up from the 2016 political climate.

Says Davaro-Comas, who also creates and self-publishes children’s books, “I felt like I needed to illustrate each one of the nine candidates that was running for president in all their utter ridiculousness based on how they portrayed themselves and each other.

It was a total disaster, and an attack on democracy. I felt that I couldn’t be a bystander and needed to capture this moment in time through my own style. The installation will be an interactive series of not-to-be missed cut-outs featuring Donald Trump, the Devil, Death and the rest of the election crew!”

A series of community events and activities will also be presented at Lucas Lucas. These announcements will be rolled out on Instagram: @lucaslucasnyc / @ramirostudios.
