Lazy Susan Gallery 191 Henry Street, January 13 – 20th, 2017
Lazy Susan Gallery presents Spectrum by Pyramid Oracle. Inspired by the refraction of light produced in a rainbow and the scientific measure of radiant energy, Spectrum is an analysis of how art is created presented, released, categorized and collected. Creators are often examined, judged, classified, and dissected based on these non creative aspect of the paths we take. It is a matter of success or failure to be defined not by the quality, content, philosophical, social, intellectual genius of the works– but rather by digestibility, societal acceptance, economic class, and monetary status. In a world where everything is recycled, nothing under the sun is new. With all things constantly being re-purposed, there is no originality, only that which is genuine.
Artist Sirus Fountain channels his alter ego Pyramid Oracle through works that are esoteric in nature– shrouded in mysticism, and hermetic symbolism. Often depicted through graphic renderings of faces, animals, statues, and geometries. His work has a strong sense of reflection and pilgrimage captured in these character’s evocations. Each painting represents another fragmented piece in the story of our past, present, and future divination. Sirus Fountain is a multidisciplinary artist, whose work has ranged from murals, street art, printmaking, illustration, sculpture, construction, experimental film-making poetry and sound design. He has gained notoriety for his public art and murals, which can be seen throughout many major cities in the United States and Europe. Most of these creations share a dark, mysterious, and cryptic nature, while simultaneously revealing great power and emotion.
