An Artists Showcase and dance party with art sales to benefit the youth and family creative arts and mentoring programs of Free Arts NYC is being hosted by Fresh Kills Store on Friday, May 2nd to celebrate the launch of “Brooklyn Street Art,” followed by a booty shakin after-party.
WILLIAMSBURG> BROOKLYN, NY— Following the exceptionally successful Brooklyn Street Art Benefit Auction at Ad Hoc Art in Bushwick on April 25th, where over 25 street artists participated and raised money for the programs of Free Arts NYC, the celebration of the street culture continues when Fresh Kills Hosts a party and Artists Showcase on May 2nd.
The Showcase features new works by some of todays well-known, emerging, and yet to be discovered artists who know no boundaries and follow no rules—their artistic turf is the public gallery of the Brooklyn streets. Some pieces will be for sale, with partial or complete proceeds to benefit Free Arts NYC.
The party will celebrate the launch of Brooklyn Street Art, a new book of photographs by Jaime Rojo, designed by Steven P. Harrington, and published by Prestel. The artists, whose work animates the pages of this new full-color book, are showcasing their work in this one-night-only event.
Swinging and titillating the guests will be the multitalented duo of Erik Deutsch and DJ Radamakers, a true mashup of styles; blending classically trained fingers with booty bouncing dance beats. While guests discover the new works by today’s street art movers and shakers, they are invited to do some shaking of their own.
Fans and friends of the Brooklyn street art community will be welcomed and encouraged to meet one another, meet the artists, and believe in the power of art to impact us all.
Refreshments will be served.
